Job Description

Experienced registered nurses with a passion for critical care will thrive in this dynamic ICU environment. This contract role offers the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, including those with DKA, acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, and post-cardiac surgical needs in a mixed cardiac and medical intensive care setting.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Multiple shifts available
  • Full time
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call or floating required

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in Louisiana or any Compact state
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association are required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • At least one year of ICU or Critical Care experience preferred (new graduates will be considered)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care using the nursing processassessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluationfor ICU and IMCU patients
  • Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 in the ICU and 4:1 in the IMCU
  • Administer medications and treatments, monitor responses, and manage side effects according to established protocols
  • Accurately document clinical observations, treatments, and care provided
  • Support the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
  • Provide education to patients, caregivers, and families as needed
  • Participate in regular orientation, preceptorship, ongoing competency assessments, and annual verification requirements
