Job Description

This contract role focuses on providing exemplary care to patients with diagnoses such as diabetic ketoacidosis, acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, post-cardiac surgeries, and those requiring ventilator support. The unit blends both cardiac and medical ICU patients, offering exposure to a wide range of clinical challenges.

Schedule:

  • Full-time nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call or floating responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Active RN license in a Compact state or New Mexico
  • BLS and ACLS certifications via AHA (American Heart Association)
  • TNCC certification required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Completion of facilitys New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
  • Precepted onboarding and Critical Care competency validation
  • One year of ICU or critical care experience preferred (new graduates considered)

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver skilled nursing care, applying the nursing process for assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Respond to both routine and complex patient needs in high-acuity situations
  • Administer medications and treatments, closely monitoring outcomes and side effects
  • Accurately document patient status, treatments, and care provided
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions and resources, tailored to their learning needs
  • Delegate and assign tasks appropriately to manage patient flow and safety
  • Maintain compliance with annual competency and departmental requirements
