Job Description

Step into a pivotal nursing role within a dynamic 20-bed Medical ICU/Step Down unit, providing critical care to diverse patient populations. As an RN skilled in intensive and progressive care, you will manage varying nurse-patient ratios, with ICU assignments typically at 2:1 and stepdown assignments at 3:1. This contract opportunity offers valuable experience in both high-acuity and stepdown settings, with added exposure through occasional floating to a sister unit, caring for stepdown patients at ratios up to 4:1. Your clinical expertise and adaptability will make a direct and meaningful contribution to patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care to critically ill and progressive care patients in a mixed ICU/Step Down environment
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions based on patient needs
  • Float as needed to the sister unit (5S), managing patient loads aligned with unit requirements
  • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and respond proactively to changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate individualized patient care
  • Uphold infection prevention protocols and support continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as part of the staff commitment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted RN license
  • Recent experience in ICU and/or Step Down/Progressive Care environments
  • Proficiency with critical care equipment, monitoring, and interventions
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and float between units as needed
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Ability to work scheduled weekends and holidays as needed
