Job Description

Provide expert nursing care in a specialized Adult and Pediatric Burn Trauma Surgical ICU setting, delivering critical support to patients requiring complex interventions. This contract role involves working within a Primary RN Care model with a focus on high-acuity burn trauma patients and critical care nursing ratios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and pediatric burn trauma surgical ICU patients.
  • Manage invasive hemodynamic monitoring with assessments at least every hour.
  • Administer IV drip titration and nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation according to the Parkland formula.
  • Provide ventilator management and support continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH).
  • Perform hourly pulse and flap Doppler checks to monitor patient status.
  • Assist with initial wound debridement, dressing changes, and surgical recovery care.
  • Administer conscious sedation and manage epidural pumps.
  • Maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio for critical care cases and 1:1 for burn trauma code 1 admissions and high-acuity post-operative patients.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure with ICU nursing experience.
  • Proven skills in critical care nursing, especially within burn trauma units.
  • Proficiency in invasive monitoring, fluid resuscitation protocols, and ventilator management.
  • Experience with pediatric and adult critical care patients.
  • Ability to perform surgical recovery and sedation nursing duties with attention to detail.
