Job Description

Provide expert critical care with a focus on adult intermediate care in a dynamic hospital environment located in New Hartford, NY. This contract position offers the opportunity to enhance your ICU nursing skills while working with a diverse patient population facing neurological, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory conditions. The role emphasizes collaboration with a skilled healthcare team using advanced specialty equipment within a 64-bed IMCU unit, which includes 15 neuro-designated beds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adults in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), including patients with neuro, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory diagnoses.
  • Manage specialty equipment such as temporary pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune therapy devices.
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapists to care for patients on chronic ventilators.
  • Adapt to floating assignments as needed across the unit.
  • Utilize EPIC EMR system for accurate documentation and communication.
  • Maintain compliance with unit protocols and safety standards during 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. shifts with flexible scheduling; block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current, active New York RN license required, verified through NURSYS.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
  • Previous travel nursing experience is essential.
  • Certification in AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required.
  • Valid drivers license with address matching local geographic criteria (within 75 miles).
  • Familiarity with critical care specialty equipment and patient populations.
  • Proficient with EPIC electronic medical record system.
