Job Description
This contract RN opportunity in a dynamic 20-bed Medical ICU/Stepdown unit offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on critically ill patients. The unit features a combination of traditional ICU care with a 2:1 patient ratio and stepdown assignments at 3:1, blending high acuity with progressive care environments. In addition, flexibility is appreciated, as floating may be required to a nearby sister unit providing care for stepdown or progressive level patients at a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio.
Qualifications:
- Unencumbered Registered Nurse license
- Proven experience in ICU or stepdown nursing settings
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Acute critical care skills, including management of complex, unstable patients
- Ability to adapt and excel in fast-paced and newly assigned units when floating
- Strong communication, assessment, and collaborative abilities
Schedule/Hours:
- Contract position with required participation in weekend and holiday rotations
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, compassionate, and evidence-based care to ICU and stepdown patients
- Monitor and assess patient status, including interpretation of vital signs and use of critical care technologies
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to policy
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare providers
- Contribute to a supportive and professional unit environment, actively engaging in shared responsibilities and floating when needed
