Job Description
Provide specialized nursing care in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, focusing on critically ill adult patients requiring complex, acute interventions. This contract position offers an opportunity to work within a Level III Trauma Center with a dedicated and experienced multidisciplinary team.
Location: Kalispell, MT
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with ICU experience
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient acute nursing experience, including at least 1 year in critical care/ICU
- Comfortable managing adult patients with complex diagnoses such as diabetes, cardiovascular, renal, and gastrointestinal issues
- Skilled in ventilator care, tube feeding management, and nutritional therapy assessment
- Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary rounds
- Experience preferred with EMR systems (Meditech a plus)
- BLS certification required
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the ICU
- Manage and monitor ventilation, feeding tubes, and aggressive nutritional therapies
- Conduct patient assessments and contribute to the development of individualized care plans
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and nursing staff
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Support a patient load adjusted between 6-12 patients depending on acuity
- Flexibility to float within other inpatient units (MedSurg, Telemetry, PCU) as needed
Schedule/Hours:
- Five 8-hour shifts per week, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
- Weekend rotation: one weekend day every 4th weekend (Saturday or Sunday)
- Occasional holiday coverage possible
- Schedule created monthly with some flexibility
