A critical care opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses specializing in neurosurgical and neurological intensive care. This contract role calls for dedicated nursing professionals who excel in managing complex, high-acuity patients in a Neuro ICU setting. With a focus on comprehensive patient assessments and advanced care techniques, this position offers a chance to practice critical care nursing at an advanced level.

Position Details:
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Specialty: Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care
- Shifts: Nights, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend Commitment: Every other weekend
- Float: May be required to float to other inpatient areas as needed
- Number of Openings: 2 part-time (.9 FTE) positions available
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert nursing care for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, post-op craniotomy, seizures, encephalopathy, and neurological tumors
- Manage care for hemodynamically unstable and mechanically ventilated patients
- Perform thorough neurological assessments utilizing specialized equipment such as Alaris Pumps, Arctic Sun, Prismax, EV 1000, and Neuroptics Pupillometer
- Utilize Epic electronic medical records system for documentation and patient management
- Participate in one day of unit orientation and complete required training modules, including Epic if necessary
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Skilled in comprehensive neurological assessment and care of critically ill neurological patients
- Preferred experience with pupillometer use, EVD, ICP waveform management, CRRT, and Epic EMR
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team, demonstrate flexibility, and maintain a positive attitude
Dress Code:
- Navy scrubs required
- Hoodies are not permitted
