Job Description

Deliver advanced, compassionate care as a Registered Nurse in a Neuro Critical Care setting. This opportunity involves working in a dedicated intensive care environment with a focus on comprehensive neurological and neurosurgical patient management. Nurses will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to support critically ill patients with complex neurological needs, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Night shifts, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Every other weekend required

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years experience in a Neuro ICU or similar high-acuity setting
  • Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale required
  • Strong skills in comprehensive neurological and hemodynamic assessment, including management of mechanically ventilated patients
  • Adaptability to float to other inpatient areas as needed
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic medical records

Preferred Experience:

  • Expertise with technologies such as Alaris Pumps, Arctic Sun, Prismax, EV 1000, and use of a Neuroptics Pupillometer
  • Skills in external ventricular drain (EVD), intracranial pressure (ICP) waveform management, and CRRT
  • Demonstrated proficiency in care for ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, post-op craniotomy, seizures, encephalopathy, and neurologic tumors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based care to critically ill neurological patients in a 10-bed unit with variable patient ratios (1:1 to 1:3)
  • Work closely with the interdisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility and a positive, team-oriented approach
  • Complete orientation modules, Epic EMR training (if needed), and participate in one full day of unit orientation on first day
  • Maintain professional appearance in navy scrubs; hoodies are not permitted per dress code guidelines
