Job Description
A registered nurse with ICU expertise is needed to provide high-quality critical care in a well-equipped 16-bed intensive care unit averaging 10 patients daily. This contract opportunity is based in High Point, NC, at a teaching system hospital known for its stroke center designation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver attentive care to MICU patients with diagnoses such as ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke.
- Manage arterial lines, vasoactive medication titration, ventilator support and weaning, and chest tube care.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, intensivists, and phlebotomy staff.
- Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and GE monitoring equipment.
- Support and mentor new graduate nurses on night shifts.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license with a minimum of 2 years ICU experience.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Proficient in critical thinking and skilled in managing complex ICU technologies.
- First-time travelers with strong ICU backgrounds welcome.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM, rotating weekends every other cycle.
- Holiday work expected approximately 75% of the time.
- Free parking and royal blue scrub code.
- Orientation includes 2 days onsite, with nurse educator support.
