Job Description

Step into a critical role in a dynamic Neuro Critical Care environment, delivering comprehensive care to patients facing complex neurological conditions. This contract position requires a Registered Nurse with well-honed ICU skills to provide expert care to patients experiencing ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, post-operative craniotomy, seizures, encephalopathy, and neurological tumors.

Schedule & Hours:

  • Nights: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
  • 36 hours guaranteed per week
  • Every other weekend required

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years ICU experience, including neuro intensive care
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Strong neurological assessment skills and experience caring for hemodynamically unstable and mechanically ventilated patients
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR and comfort with advanced equipment (Alaris Pumps, Arctic Sun, Prismax, EV 1000, Neuroptics Pupillometer)
  • Team-oriented, flexible, empathetic, and positive

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise with Pupillometer, EVD, ICP waveform management, and CRRT
  • Experience in rapidly adapting to patient acuity and floating as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care and thorough assessments to neuro ICU patients
  • Manage advanced monitoring equipment and maintain vigilant observation of neurological status
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and support a patient-centered environment
  • Float to other inpatient areas if home unit census is low
  • Participate in orientation modules and ongoing education

Additional Details:

  • Navy scrubs required (no hoodies)
  • Orientation includes online modules, Epic training, and a day of unit introduction
