Job Description
Deliver advanced care as an experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse in a dynamic night-shift role focused on neurosurgical and neurological intensive care. This contract opportunity offers a chance to utilize specialized skills in a 10-bed unit dedicated to critically ill patients with conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, post-operative craniotomy, seizures, encephalopathy, and neurologic tumors.
Shift and Schedule:
- Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours weekly
- Every other weekend commitment
- Floating to other inpatient areas as needed based on census
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage care for hemodynamically unstable and mechanically ventilated patients
- Perform thorough neurological assessments including use of specialized equipment like Neuroptics Pupillometer and monitoring ICP waveforms
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive neuro critical care
- Maintain documentation and patient care records within the Epic EMR system
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN licensure
- Minimum 2 years experience in Neuro ICU nursing
- Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Proven competency in neurological assessments and care of critically ill neuro patients
- Preferred skills in EVD, CRRT, and advanced neuro monitoring equipment
