Job Description
A critical care nursing opportunity is available in a contract role within an intensive care unit specializing in medical and surgical patient care. This position requires advanced skills in managing complex critical care procedures and technologies, providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with a minimum of one year ICU experience
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Proficient in titration of drips, neuro management, trauma care, tracheostomy care, and mechanical ventilation
- Experienced with advanced procedures and devices including arterial line management, central venous catheter care, pulmonary artery catheterization, lumbar drains, and external ventricular drain (EVD) management
- Skilled in chest tube insertion, bronchoscopy, intubation, and non-invasive ventilation
Responsibilities include:
- Managing patient care in a 35-bed Medical ICU and 34-bed Surgical ICU with patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:2
- Utilizing equipment such as telemetry monitors, EV1000 hemodynamic monitors, bladder scanners, ventilators, and Meditech electronic documentation system
- Collaborating with unit staff including secretaries and patient care technicians
- Floating as needed to telemetry, step-down, and other ICU units
- Adhering to unit dress code of blue scrubs
- Maintaining compliance with hospital policies and accreditation standards
