Job Description
Advance your nursing career by providing critical care to a diverse population of patients in a dynamic intensive care setting. This contract role involves working alongside a skilled interdisciplinary team caring for those experiencing DKA, acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, post-CABG, and those requiring ventilator support in a mixed cardiac and medical ICU.
Schedule:
- Multiple shifts available
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- No floating to other units
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Louisiana or current Compact state license
- BLS certification from AHA
- ACLS certification from AHA
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- One year of ICU or critical care experience preferred; new graduates considered
Desired Experience & Skills:
- Ability to provide comprehensive, patient-focused care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Experience managing the complex physiological, psychological, and social needs of patients and families
- Proficiency in administering medications and monitoring for therapeutic and adverse effects
- Effective documentation of patient care, history, and progress
- Strong patient and family education skills, identifying barriers and resources as needed
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality care to ICU and Intermediate Care Unit patients, typically at a 2:1 or 4:1 nurse/patient ratio
- Consistently meet departmental and organizational competencies and standards of practice
- Participate in orientation, competency validation, and ongoing professional development
- Support team cohesion through appropriate assignment delegation
