Job Description
A skilled RN is needed for an Intensive Care Unit nursing position within a mixed cardiac and medical ICU. This full-time contract opportunity offers the flexibility to start as soon as possible and provides comprehensive support for both experienced professionals and new graduates.
Schedule and Hours
- Night shifts, 7PM 7AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call or floating assignments
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1 for ICU, 4:1 for IMCU patients in the ICU
Qualifications and Required Experience
- Active RN license in New Mexico or current Compact state
- BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA
- TNCC certification required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- At least one year of critical care nursing experience preferred (new graduates will be considered)
- All newly hired RNs participate in a structured orientation and complete annual competency verifications
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care, using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)
- Care for a variety of acute patients, including those with DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator support
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments safely, with appropriate monitoring for side effects
- Document patient history, symptoms, care provided, and response to therapy
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers, assessing their learning needs and connecting them with resources
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and delegate tasks to manage clinical situations
