Job Description

Provide expert critical care nursing in a Neuro ICU setting, managing complex neurological patient cases in a Level 1 Trauma designated teaching hospital. This travel assignment offers the opportunity to work with advanced neurological conditions, utilizing vital skills in ventilator management, vasoactive drips, and invasive monitoring, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing care to adult Neuro ICU patients with diagnoses such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injuries, seizures, spinal cord injuries, and post-operative craniotomies.
  • Manage external ventricular drains (EVD), intracranial pressure monitoring, ventilators, vasoactive medications, tracheostomies, and central lines.
  • Administer treatments and monitor TNK and IR patients transferred directly from procedures.
  • Collaborate with stroke response nurses, intensivists, clinical educators, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy teams.
  • Utilize the Epic electronic medical record system effectively.
  • Participate in weekend rotations approximately every other weekend and fulfill 75% of holiday shifts.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental protocols during a 2-day orientation period.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 2 years experience in Adult ICU.
  • Minimum one completed 13-week nursing assignment; first-time travelers accepted.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR.
  • Experience with neurological critical care interventions including EVD management, ventilator support, vasoactive drips, and tracheostomy care.
  • Ability to float within adult critical care units as needed.

Schedule:

  • Night shifts: 6:45 pm to 7:15 am.
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend.
  • No on-call responsibilities.
