Taking on this role means joining a dedicated ICU team known for its progressive cardiac care practices, including managing post-cardiac surgery patients and utilizing advanced devices like IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and ECMO. This is an exceptional pathway for professional development: youll collaborate with leading clinicians, broaden your expertise in complex cardiovascular interventions, and learn innovative approaches to patient managementall valuable assets for your nursing portfolio.
Schedule:
- 12-hour day shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday shifts included
- No on-call duties
- Orientation: Up to 16 hours
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Nurse, active Illinois license
- Minimum 3 years of recent CVICU experience
- Proven ability to interpret/manage dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure
- Hands-on expertise with advanced cardiac support (e.g., CABG, IABP, Impella, ECMO, LVAD, RVAD, CRRT)
- Strong IV therapy skills including arterial/central/PICC line management and blood product administration
- CPR, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
- EPIC EMR proficiency
- Passing EKG test (80%+); CV ICU skills checklist (within 1 year)
- Recent supervisor reference (CV ICU)
Role Responsibilities:
- Care for diverse, high-acuity cardiac patients pre/post intervention
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team setting; communicate effectively with leadership
- Potential to float to MICU/ICU settings as needed across partner campuses
- Flexibly adapt to evolving patient needs in a cardiovascular environment
