Provide specialized critical care as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within a well-equipped hospital setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to work with complex patient cases while utilizing advanced skills and technology in a supportive team environment.

Location: Cherryville, NC

Facility Overview: The hospital features 241 licensed beds and functions as a Level 3 Trauma Center. It is a Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center. The ICU unit has 18 beds with an average census of 17 patients. The unit embraces teamwork and employs advanced monitoring systems such as EPIC EMR, Philips monitors, and Omnicell medication dispensing.

Responsibilities:

• Provide critical care nursing for patients primarily diagnosed with sepsis, DKA, substance abuse, flu, COVID-19, pneumonia, CHF, stroke, and GI bleed
• Manage patient care at an RN-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• Perform critical care assessments, including ventilator management, central line care, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Collaborate with CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists including virtual night coverage
• Utilize telemetry monitoring and unit-specific equipment including Artic Sun for patient cooling
• Engage in departmental and facility orientation processes to ensure smooth integration
• Work scheduled 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shifts with weekend rotation every other weekend and expected holiday coverage (75% of holidays)

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current RN license with BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience; first-time travelers will be considered
• Proficiency in critical care assessment, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ability to handle complex nursing judgment and critical thinking in a fast-paced environment
