Job Description

Provide expert nursing care in a critical care setting at a respected health center serving a large and diverse community in Northwestern Arizona. This contract role offers an opportunity to work primarily in a 5-bed Intensive Care Unit, with occasional float assignments to Emergency, Med/Surg, or Pediatrics depending on census needs. The position demands clinical expertise, autonomy, and a compassionate approach to caring for patients of all ages, including post-operative support for general surgery, pediatric, and OB patients.

Location Highlights: Situated on the Colorado Plateau, the Tuba City area features a unique semi-desert landscape ranging from 4,400 to nearly 7,000 feet in elevation. This culturally rich community embraces Navajo, Hopi, Southern Paiute, and diverse ethnic groups, offering a rewarding environment for healthcare professionals. The hospital is a referral center covering a 4,400 square mile area, delivering comprehensive services including emergency care, surgical specialties, dental, ophthalmology, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver skilled nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
  • Interpret and follow physicians orders and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for patient care.
  • Support post-operative recovery for various patient populations.
  • Float to other units as needed based on census fluctuations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience required.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted RN license valid in any US state, territory, or PR.
  • American Heart Association certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be completed within 6 months of hire
  • Additional certifications required within 6 months of hire:
    • Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR)
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Additional Information:

  • Orientation held every two weeks.
  • COVID & flu exemptions may be granted after submission of declination form.
  • Contractors must submit housing application at least 2 weeks prior to start.
  • Shared contractor housing available with no pets or family allowed.
