Job Description
Deliver essential and advanced care in a dynamic mixed cardiac and medical ICU, working alongside a skilled team focused on outstanding patient outcomes. This full-time, night-shift opportunity is ideal for Registered Nurses ready to contribute expertise in an environment managing critical diagnoses such as DKA, acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, and patients requiring ventilatory support or post-cardiac surgical care.
Schedule/Hours:
- Full-time: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call or floating required; nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 (ICU), 4:1 (IMCU in ICU)
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in New Mexico or any current Compact state
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Minimum of 1 year in a critical care or ICU setting preferred (will consider new graduates)
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
- TNCC certification required
- Strong clinical assessment skills, with a commitment to education, patient advocacy, and continuous learning
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) for high-acuity ICU patients
- Monitor and manage complex conditions, administering medications and treatments per protocol
- Document patient history, clinical findings, medications, and care activities accurately
- Address psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs of patients and families
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding care plans and follow-up
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
