Job Description

This contract opportunity offers a chance to work in a 20-bed mixed ICU/Step Down unit, where high acuity patient care, close monitoring, and interdisciplinary teamwork are essential. The position requires flexibility and adaptability, as you will be called upon to float between units, supporting both intensive care and step-down patient populations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active and unrestricted RN license
  • Prior experience in an ICU setting, with a preference for those comfortable in both ICU (2:1 ratio) and step-down (3:1 ratio) care
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Willingness to float to sister units as needed (including 1:3 SD or progressive patients at a 4:1 ratio)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medical ICU and Step Down unit, closely monitoring status and responding to changes with sound clinical judgment
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and utilize advanced technologies required for critical care
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and ancillary teams to deliver holistic care
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold rigorous patient safety standards
  • Flexibly respond to unit needs, including floating between the main ICU/Step Down and allied units, adapting to varying patient acuity and team structures
