Job Description

A Registered Nurse opportunity is available in the Emergency Department at a Magnet-designated academic Level 1 Trauma center located in Waunakee, WI. This role focuses on delivering expert emergency care to a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric to adult cases in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The Emergency Department handles over 60,000 visits annually and is equipped with a comprehensive subspecialty team, advanced diagnostic interventions, and critical care programs including an active ECPR (ECMO) initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in an urgent and emergent setting
  • Coordinate patient care with ground and air ambulance services
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including trauma response and stroke care
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure timely cardiac catheterization, burn care, and operative support
  • Maintain compliance with infection control and safety standards

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum two years of Emergency Department nursing experience within the past three years, preferably in an academic Level 1 Trauma center or similar setting
  • Current Wisconsin RN license or compact license with permanent address within 50 miles of the work location
  • Certifications required: BLS, PALS, ACLS (American Heart Association), and TNCC
  • Recent Epic electronic health records experience (within 12 months)
  • Basic arrhythmia monitoring skills; telemetry competency must be demonstrated prior to starting
  • Prior travel nursing experience is required

Schedule and Location:

  • Night shifts available: 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend and holiday rotation involved
  • Worksite is near Madison, WI, with parking permits required if onsite. Multiple transportation options including bus services and park & ride are available.
