Job Description
Provide expert emergency nursing care in a busy, high-acuity Emergency Department located in Los Fresnos, TX. This role is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in trauma, cardiac events, and critical care protocols. Support patient stabilization, conduct triage assessments, and collaborate with a skilled multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes in urgent medical situations.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care including IV insertion, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, and wound care.
- Perform moderate sedation for procedures such as reductions and cardioversion.
- Assist with intubation, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and code response.
- Manage complex cases involving stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral health patients.
- Conduct triage assessments and prioritize care based on Emergency Severity Index (ESI) guidelines.
- Follow isolation and infection control protocols rigorously.
- Document patient care accurately in a fast-paced environment using Meditech (experience preferred).
- Coordinate patient transport for higher levels of care when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years recent Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity setting.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; TNCC preferred.
- Strong triage, critical thinking, and trauma/cardiac alert care skills.
- Experience with STEMI, stroke, sepsis patient care.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but not mandatory.
- Reliable, punctual, team-focused, and adaptable.
Schedule:
- Day and night shifts available.
- Must be available for 2 weekends per schedule.
- No on-call required.
