Emergency Department Registered Nurse La Feria, TX (Contract)

A high-acuity Emergency Department (ED) seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support their team in La Feria. This role provides vital care in a fast-paced environment, caring for diverse patients with critical and urgent needs. The contract position allows you to apply your specialized emergency nursing skills while contributing to excellent patient outcomes.

Location Overview:
Situated near the Texas-Mexico border, La Feria offers a warm climate and a community-oriented lifestyle. This assignment is in a well-established 22-bed Emergency Department known for a collaborative nursing team and advanced clinical protocols. The region combines small-town charm with access to city amenities nearby.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform triage assessments following Emergency Severity Index (ESI) guidelines
• Deliver patient-centered care including IV insertion, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, and wound care
• Provide moderate sedation for procedures such as reductions and cardioversion
• Assist with intubations, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and code responses
• Manage care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral health patients
• Coordinate transport preparations for transfers to higher levels of care
• Maintain stringent infection control and isolation protocols
• Accurately document patient care using Meditech EMR (experience preferred)
• Adapt to dynamic and high-stress situations with a team-oriented approach

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum 5 years recent Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity setting
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; TNCC preferred
• Strong triage and critical thinking skills
• Trauma and cardiac alert experience caring for STEMI, stroke, and sepsis patients
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but not required

Schedule:

• Primarily day and night shifts with 2 weekends per schedule, no on-call required
