Job Description
Deliver expert nursing care within a dynamic emergency department setting, applying established standards to support patients from neonates to geriatric populations. This contract role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with healthcare teams, providing critical assessments, coordinating care plans, and responding promptly to emergencies.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Current Pennsylvania RN licensure
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) with up-to-date renewals every two years
- Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills; able to maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress situations
- Ability to function effectively as a team member and liaison between patients and staff
- EPIC computer charting experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough triage of emergency patients, prioritizing care based on physical and psychosocial needs
- Perform regular rounding within the department and waiting room to monitor patient status and flow
- Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care continuously, integrating discharge planning and patient/family education
- Manage emergency complications following institutional policies and Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards
- Document patient responses and act promptly to changes in condition to ensure safety and quality care
- Provide health education to patients and families, facilitating understanding of treatment and discharge instructions
