Job Description
Provide expert Emergency Department nursing care in a fast-paced, 22-bed unit with surge capacity in a community hospital setting. This travel position offers a dynamic work environment handling diverse patient cases including chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, motor vehicle collisions, hypertension, and mental health emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care to an average of 85 ED patients daily with RN-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:3-4.
- Manage IV drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed.
- Utilize multiple technologies such as EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensers, Philips monitors, and telemetry monitoring.
- Collaborate with RT, hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry techs for comprehensive patient management.
- Assist with phlebotomy and PICC coverage as part of the IV/VAT team.
- Participate in weekend rotations, holiday shifts, and adhere to a 12-hour shift schedule (7A-7P or 7P-7A) on a 6-week cycle.
Qualifications:
- Active Georgia RN license required.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required.
- TNCC and national emergency nursing certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in drip management and telemetry monitoring.
- Ability to float within the ER unit and occasionally to a nearby ER location (~45 minutes away).
