A highly skilled Registered Nurse with Emergency Room expertise is sought for a contract opportunity in the Emergency Department located in Brownsville, TX. This role focuses on providing exceptional care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment within a 22-bed emergency unit staffed by a dedicated team of 55 professionals. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical skills and critical thinking to manage complex trauma and cardiac emergencies effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive emergency nursing care including IV insertion, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, and wound care.
• Support moderate sedation procedures such as reductions and cardioversion.
• Assist with advanced airway management including intubation, CPR, and rapid sequence intubation.
• Manage acute conditions such as STEMI, stroke, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral health emergencies.
• Perform triage assessments and prioritize patients using Emergency Severity Index (ESI) guidelines.
• Follow isolation and infection control protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient reassessment in a dynamic clinical environment.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate transport and higher-level care when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of recent Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity setting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; TNCC preferred.
• Expertise in trauma and cardiac alert patient care including STEMI, stroke, and sepsis.
• Strong triage abilities with critical thinking skills.
• Experience with Meditech electronic medical records preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
• Team-oriented, punctual, compassionate, and adaptable to fast-paced work environments.

Schedule:

• Two weekends per schedule required.
• No on-call obligations.
