An electrophysiology registered nurse (RN) plays a critical role in performing and assisting with diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and cardiac interventions. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with physicians and specialized teams to provide high-quality care for patients undergoing advanced heart rhythm diagnostics and treatments.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients and equipment for electrophysiology diagnostic studies including electrocardiograms and ablations.
• Monitor procedure data and assist with lab analysis and interpretation.
• Support physicians during pacing implementations and cardiac device implantations.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, charge nurses, and support staff to ensure smooth room turnover and timely procedure starts.
• Serve as circulator at the sterile field, maintain fluids for ablation catheters, and assist anesthesia during procedures.
• Document thoroughly using Epic electronic medical records throughout procedures.
• Provide backup pacing during implant procedures.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with hospital policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid New York State RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in electrophysiology or cardiac care settings.
• Proficiency in moderate sedation nursing.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate among multidisciplinary teams.
• Preferred but not required: experience with cardiac implant or structural heart scrubs and familiarity with GE MacLab CardioLab systems.

Typical Procedures:

• RF and Cryo ablations including Atrial Fibrillation/Flutter, AVNRT, WPW, and other arrhythmias.
• Use of advanced mapping systems such as Biosense Webster Carto, Abbott Ensite/Precision, and Rhythmia.
• Implantation of pacemakers, ICDs, subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers, and devices such as Watchman and Amulet.
