An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with expertise in electrophysiology (EP) nursing to support diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This contract position is based in Fairport, NY, and involves working in a clinical setting specializing in cardiac electrophysiology.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for electrophysiology procedures including diagnostic studies and cardiac ablations.
- Ensure all equipment and instrumentation function properly before and during procedures.
- Monitor real-time procedural data and assist with lab analysis; communicate findings or concerns to physicians.
- Assist with pacing implementation and placement of permanent cardiac devices.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia teams, and in-room staff to facilitate efficient workflow and patient care.
- Maintain sterile field and manage fluids during ablation procedures.
- Document care and procedural details using the Epic electronic health record system.
- Provide patient-focused support during moderate sedation.
- Coordinate room turnover and procedure scheduling in partnership with charge nurses and vendors.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State RN license.
- Minimum 2 years experience in nursing, preferably in cardiac electrophysiology or related cardiac care.
- Proficient in moderate sedation.
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with cardiac implant or structural heart scrub, and familiarity with GE MacLab CardioLab systems, is preferred but not required.
Common procedures include RF and cryo ablations for arrhythmias (AFib, flutter, AVNRT, WPW), various device implants (pacemakers, ICDs, leadless devices), and mapping system utilization.
