Expertise in cardiovascular surgical nursing is sought for a contract opportunity within a collaborative surgical team. The Registered Nurse (RN) working in this cardiovascular operating room role will play a pivotal part in complex cardiac and vascular procedures, ensuring patient safety and supporting optimal surgical outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license, with eligibility to practice in the state as required
- At least two years of recent experience in a CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) setting
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Demonstrated proficiency with specialized CVOR equipment and sterile technique standards
- Strong critical-thinking, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary team members
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare cardiovascular operating rooms for complex procedures, including equipment, instruments, and sterile field setup
- Circulate and/or scrub during cardiac surgeries and vascular interventions
- Monitor patient condition intraoperatively, anticipating the needs of both surgeons and anesthesia providers
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of procedures and patient responses
- Adhere strictly to infection control and patient safety protocols
- Provide post-operative support and thorough patient handovers to recovery teams
