Job Description
Specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing, this position plays a vital role in supporting open-heart surgeries alongside a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic academic hospital setting. This contract opportunity places you in a bustling, 14-suite operating room environment equipped for advanced cardiac interventions.
Schedule/Hours:
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM, with after-hours and weekend call coverage
- Night Shift: On-call coverage
- Holiday call assistance as needed
Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Demonstrated experience in open-heart procedures and the cardiothoracic service line
- Dependable and flexible, ready to adapt to department needs
- Meditech EMR experience is an advantage
- Comfort with floating to various surgical service lines (trauma, general, gynecological, urology, orthopedic, neuro, plastics) is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Circulate and/or scrub for open-heart procedures including CABG (with/without EVH), valve replacements, Impella device placement, pericardial windows, and ECMO
- Provide 1:1 patient care in the cardiovascular OR
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and technical staff throughout the perioperative period
- Expect to float to other operating rooms when there are no scheduled open-heart surgeries
- Uphold infection control, safety, and hospital policies at all times
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation through Meditech
