Job Description

Highly skilled registered nurses are needed to provide expert care for cardiovascular surgery patients in a dynamic, specialized surgical setting. This contract-based role focuses on the cardiovascular operating room, where youll assist with and manage complex open-heart procedures within a multi-OR hospital environment. The facility boasts 14 operating roomsincluding a dedicated Open Heart roomand features a patient-centered culture with 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratios.

Schedule:

  • Day shift: 7:00am 3:00pm (call coverage after 3pm, weekends, and holidays as needed)
  • Night shift: On-call coverage

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Active RN license in good standing required
  • Valid BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Demonstrated experience with open heart surgical procedures and cardiothoracic surgical nursing
  • Knowledge of or experience with CABG (with/without EVH), Impellas, pericardial windows, valve replacements, and ECMO
  • Flexibility to float to support other service lines such as trauma, general surgery, gyn, uro, ortho, neuro, and plastics
  • Familiarity with standard OR equipment and Meditech EMR
  • Professionalism, dependability, strong communication, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and circulate during open heart and cardiothoracic surgeries, ensuring patient safety and high-quality outcomes
  • Maintain an organized and sterile environment, adhering to all infection control procedures
  • Provide vigilant monitoring and rapid response for acute changes in patient status
  • Collaborate seamlessly within a team of RNs and surgical techs, supporting call schedules and floating to other ORs as needed
