A pediatric critical care nursing opportunity is available in San Antonio, TX, perfect for RNs with experience in cardiovascular intensive care. This contract position offers a night shift schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM, focused on providing specialized care to pediatric cardiac patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care independently in a pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit, applying assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation techniques.
• Manage complex patient needs including chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions.
• Administer medications and treatments per established protocols, monitoring patient response and documenting all relevant clinical information.
• Support families through education and emotional support tailored to their individual needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members, delegating tasks appropriately to optimize patient care.
• Engage in competency development and participate in orientation programs and ongoing training.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current RN licensure in Texas or compact state.
• Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in pediatric cardiac or critical care nursing preferred; new graduates with critical care interest considered.
• Ability to attend mandatory orientation and competency validation within initial employment period.

Work Schedule:

• Night shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM, full-time hours.
