A pediatric critical care nursing opportunity is available in San Antonio, TX, perfect for RNs with experience in cardiovascular intensive care. This contract position offers a night shift schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM, focused on providing specialized care to pediatric cardiac patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care independently in a pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit, applying assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation techniques.
- Manage complex patient needs including chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions.
- Administer medications and treatments per established protocols, monitoring patient response and documenting all relevant clinical information.
- Support families through education and emotional support tailored to their individual needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, delegating tasks appropriately to optimize patient care.
- Engage in competency development and participate in orientation programs and ongoing training.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN licensure in Texas or compact state.
- Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience in pediatric cardiac or critical care nursing preferred; new graduates with critical care interest considered.
- Ability to attend mandatory orientation and competency validation within initial employment period.
Work Schedule:
- Night shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM, full-time hours.
