Job Description
A critical care nursing role is available for a skilled RN with pediatric cardiac experience, specializing in care involving chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions. This full-time contract position focuses on providing expert nursing care during night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. The ideal candidate will function independently and proficiently within a complex clinical environment, delivering both routine and advanced nursing care aligned with patient needs and long-term care objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Manage complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
- Administer medications and treatments following established protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment efficacy.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care accurately.
- Assess and address learning needs of patients and caregivers, providing relevant education and identifying additional support resources.
- Meet performance expectations aligned with leadership competencies in self-management and clinical delegation.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current RN License in Texas or compact license.
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA only).
- Pediatric cardiac nursing experience, particularly with chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusion management.
- Minimum 1 year of critical care nursing experience preferred; new graduates with critical care exposure considered.
Work Schedule:
- Night shifts: 7 PM to 7 AM
- Full-time commitment
- Contract role
