Job Description
Deliver specialized nursing care as an experienced RN in a Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. This contract position requires expertise and compassion to support critically ill children and their families. You will provide care for pediatric patients in both ICU and stepdown settings, maintaining vigilance and clinical excellence in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule/Hours:
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU status, 1:3 for stepdown/non-ICU
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU setting
- Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications (required)
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Genuine passion for pediatric nursing and family-centered care
- Ability to thrive in high acuity, multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced, evidence-based nursing interventions for pediatric cardiovascular patients, including those requiring critical or stepdown care
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions, changes, and progress to the healthcare team and families
- Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, cardiologists, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Skillfully manage ventilators, vasoactive infusions, and specialized monitoring equipment
- Support and educate pediatric patients and their families through challenging, complex care processes
- Prepare and assist in emergent situations within the unit, ensuring rapid, effective interventions
