Job Description

A specialized Surgical Technologist role is available in a high-acuity Adult Cardiac Operating Room (OR) in Webster, NY. This contract position supports complex cardiac cases including CABG, TAVI, Heart Failure VADs, ECMO, Artificial Heart implants, and Heart Transplants. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, the team provides expert care to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities include preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures and assisting the surgical team from the scrub position during operations. The Surgical Technologist ensures proper care and handling of instruments, facilitates efficient room turnover between cases, maintains sterile technique, safely handles sharps, and performs surgical counts following hospital policy. Handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents is performed under registered nurse supervision.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NBSTSA Certification or a minimum of 10 years as a Surgical Technician
  • At least 2 years recent experience specifically in a cardiac OR setting
  • Ability to scrub and circulate during surgical procedures
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
