Job Description

A highly specialized role is available for a Surgical Technologist with expertise in cardiac operating rooms. This position focuses on providing technical support in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for intricate adult cardiac surgical procedures including CABG, TAVI, heart failure VADs, ECMO, artificial heart implants, and heart transplants. The role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to deliver care for patients of varying ages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for cardiac surgeries.
  • Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations.
  • Ensure proper care, handling, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
  • Facilitate efficient room turnover between cases while maintaining sterile technique.
  • Perform surgical counts and safely handle sharps according to hospital policy.
  • Handle pharmacologic agents under registered nurse supervision.
  • Collaborate effectively with the OR team to support patient safety and procedural success.

Qualifications:

  • NBSTSA Certification or a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
  • At least 2 years recent experience specifically in a cardiac OR environment.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to scrub and circulate during surgical procedures.
