Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, or Colorado Surgical Technologist license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association
- Proficient in the English language (reading, writing, speaking)
- Must acquire necessary computer/typing skills within 90 days if not already proficient
- Experience caring for a wide spectrum of patient ages, from neonatal to geriatric
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure and maintain a sterile surgical field; provide instruments and support to the surgical team
- Apply expertise in sterile techniques, human anatomy, and new technologies for invasive procedures
- Inspect and maintain surgical supplies for proper processing and expiration
- Monitor sterile fields and respond appropriately to maintain safety and integrity
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the perioperative team, including participating in briefings and debriefings
- Assist with patient transports, room turnovers, and preparation
- Clean and prepare instrumentation for terminal sterilization
- Model professional behavior and remain current on new procedures and equipment
