Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent
  • Prior experience assisting in operating rooms, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
  • Thorough understanding of aseptic techniques, sterilization, and equipment preparation
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon and team needs during procedures
  • BLS certification required
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to perform in high-pressure situations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments for a wide range of procedures
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use
  • Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operations, passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field
  • Monitor patient safety and report any concerns to the surgical team
  • Manage instrument and supply counts before, during, and after procedures to ensure nothing is retained
  • Properly handle specimens and deliver to appropriate analysis areas
  • Support cleanup and turn-over of rooms between cases
