Advance your surgical nursing career by supporting vital procedures in a high-performing operating room environment. In this contract role, you'll play a crucial part in patient care during intraoperative procedures, working directly alongside surgeons and the surgical team to ensure optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a sterile environment for surgical cases.
- Prepare the operating room with necessary supplies and instruments.
- Pass instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during procedures.
- Retract and assist as needed to support optimal surgeon access.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless care and adherence to protocols.
- Maintain proper inventory of surgical supplies and promptly restock as needed.
- Focus exclusively on intraoperative care within the designated department; excludes PACU, anesthesia, pre-op holding, and central sterile responsibilities.
- Support operating room functions that may encompass inpatient, outpatient, and perfusion services, as required by the department scope.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Certification or experience as an Operating Room Technician (ORT) or equivalent.
- Previous experience assisting in the operating room and knowledge of surgical protocols.
- Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection control procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to react quickly in dynamic situations.
- Attention to detail and ability to support a wide range of surgical specialties.
