Job Description
Deliver exceptional support in the operating room suite by providing critical patient care and participating in unit activities. This contract position requires expertise in nursing ORT, focusing on patient safety, quality care delivery, and communicating important data in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Nursing ORT skills with demonstrated operating room experience
- Completion and maintenance of all required licenses, certifications, and regulatory training (including TB testing, compliance training, HIPAA training, safety test)
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, with the ability to anticipate needs for each case
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and instrument count management
- Ability to independently fulfill additional responsibilities and respond to changing departmental demands
- Professional dedication to upholding ethical standards and facility policies
Responsibilities:
- Deliver quality care and assist with dressings or cast applications as needed during and after procedures
- Select and prepare cases in alignment with physician preference cards
- Maintain accurate counts of instruments, towel clips, and other surgical items, reporting discrepancies and updating surgeon preference cards as required
- Ensure compliance with all counting and documentation procedures to enhance patient safety
- Identify department challenges and take initiative to improve processes, including cost containment suggestions and submitting recommendations
- Participate in peer education and training efforts within the unit
- Demonstrate flexibility by working additional or alternative shifts as necessary to support the team
