Certified Surgical Technician Operating Room | Santa Fe, NM | Contract | Days 6:30 AM 5:00 PM | Start ASAP

A critical member of the surgical team, this Certified Surgical Technician supports surgeons by preparing and managing surgical instruments and equipment while maintaining a sterile environment throughout operations. This role is essential in ensuring surgeries proceed safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, provide, and care for surgical instruments and equipment during operations
  • Maintain sterile fields and adhere strictly to infection control policies
  • Assist in cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of the operating room and surgical tools
  • Collaborate closely with the surgical team to anticipate needs during procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Universal Precautions to minimize exposure to infectious materials
  • Communicate effectively with clinical management and team members regarding patient care and equipment status

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
  • Current Surgical Tech certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Valid BLS certification from AHA required
  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care hospital OR or instrument care environment preferred
  • Proficient knowledge in sterilization techniques and surgical instrument care
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift frequently throughout the day
  • Capacity to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
