Job Description

A specialized opportunity is available to contribute your expertise in an Adult Cardiac Operating Room where a diverse patient population is cared for using advanced surgical techniques. This role requires precision and technical skill in assisting with complex cardiac procedures, including but not limited to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), ventricular assist devices (VAD), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), artificial heart, and heart transplants. Utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach, candidates will support patients across all age groups in a high-acuity surgical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies specific to cardiac procedures.
  • Provide skilled assistance to the surgical team during operations from the scrub position.
  • Ensure the proper care, handling, and maintenance of instruments.
  • Facilitate efficient room turnover between cases maintaining sterile technique and safety protocols.
  • Perform surgical counts and handle pharmacologic agents under RN supervision.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies regarding sterile procedures and sharps handling.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • NBSTSA Certification or a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience working in a cardiac operating room.
  • Proficiency in both scrub and circulating roles.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
