Job Description

A healthcare opportunity is available for a Surgical Technician with specialized skills in Neuro and ENT surgical procedures. This contract position requires a minimum of two years experience specifically in Neuro cases including Craniotomies, External Ventricular Drains (EVD), and spinal surgeries. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in these areas and be comfortable working in a high-acuity surgical environment.

Location:
Based in Racine, WI, this role offers exposure to a Level III Trauma Center equipped with a Level III NICU and recognized with Magnet Designation. The facility supports a broad range of surgical specialties including Neuro/ENT, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Vascular, Laparoscopic, Oncology, GU, and Gynecology with advanced robotic surgeries. The operating room has 21 beds and integrates advanced charting and medication dispensing systems such as EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Surgical Technician in Neuro/ENT specialty
  • Proficient in managing complex Neuro cases (Craniotomies, EVD, Spine surgeries)
  • BLS certification required
  • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system preferred
  • Ability to work with various surgical specialties with cross-training provided (excluding floating to other hospitals)
  • Strong procedural knowledge and capability to support 1:1 patient ratios in high-pressure settings

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assist in Neuro/ENT surgical procedures with precision and adherence to protocols
  • Maintain sterile field and surgical equipment readiness
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, charge nurses, and OR support staff
  • Participate in orientation and training scheduled over 1 to 1.5 weeks depending on the team and shift
  • Respond promptly when on-call (30-minute response time)

Schedule:

  • Variable day shift start times between 5:30 AM and 7 AM
  • No weekend rotation required
  • Holiday coverage is flexible, with options to work alternate hours or take unpaid leave
