Job Description
This opportunity involves supporting complex cardiac surgical procedures in a highly specialized operating room setting. You will play a crucial role in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies, and providing technical assistance during surgeries. The patient population includes those undergoing procedures such as CABG, TAVI, heart failure VAD implantation, ECMO, artificial heart management, and heart transplants. A multidisciplinary approach ensures comprehensive care for patients of all ages.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for cardiac surgeries.
- Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations.
- Maintain sterile technique and handle sharps safely.
- Perform surgical counts according to hospital policy.
- Facilitate efficient room turnover between cases.
- Handle solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NBSTSA Certification or a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- At least 2 years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room.
- Ability to perform both scrub and circulate roles.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
