Job Description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Operating Room Certified Surgical Technologist (OR CST) to support a Level I Trauma Center in Mount Pleasant, SC. This contract position offers a dynamic setting within a teaching facility that holds Magnet designation, emphasizing advanced surgical care across multiple specialties including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Robotics, Transplants, Trauma, GU, and GYN procedures.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, preferably with Neuro (spines/crani), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) cases
  • Certified through NBSTSA (NCCT not accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Radiation Badge required (agency to provide)
  • Comfortable with a broad range of surgeries including total joints, trauma, transplants, and more
  • Ability to float within scope to sister units/facilities as needed
  • First-time travelers accepted

Responsibilities:

  • Work three 12-hour shifts, 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM
  • Participate in weekend shifts as needed
  • Be available for up to two on-call shifts per month on weekends (7 AM-7 PM or 7 PM-7 AM)
  • Engage in holiday rotation
  • Support varied case types in a busy, nurse-driven operating room
  • Provide both scrub and circulate duties alongside an experienced nursing team

The hosting facility operates 21 OR suites and provides care across multiple specialties in a Magnet-designated academic trauma center boasting 820 staffed beds. Operating rooms utilize EPIC for charting and provide parking permits for accessible onsite parking.

Additional Information:

  • Managers may approve block schedule requests based on unit needs
  • Local candidates within 60 miles welcomed and may receive a considered rate adjustment
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront
  • Facility may call off one shift every two weeks, with called-off hours adjustable
  • Travelers should be aware of hurricane season (June-November) and possible emergency assignments
