Job Description

Location:
Situated in Marion, IL, this role is within a community-focused healthcare setting known for its commitment to quality care in various specialties including cancer, cardiac, stroke, and rehabilitation services. Marion offers a welcoming atmosphere with access to local amenities and community resources, making it a convenient and pleasant place to work and live.

Schedule:

  • 0800 to 1830, 4 days a week
  • Rotating day off throughout the week
  • One weeknight and two weekend days per month for on-call requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with transportation and positioning of patients for procedures
  • Assemble and dismantle surgical tables and instruments
  • Prepare patients and surgical rooms, including skin preparation and draping
  • Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures
  • Assist the surgeon with gowning, gloving, instrument passing, and suture handling
  • Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sutures, and sponges
  • Apply dressings and bandages as needed
  • Collect and care for specimens
  • Decontaminate instruments and restock supplies to ensure efficient room turnover

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • For Non-Certified: Completion of an accredited OR technician program or equivalent on-the-job, military, or related medical training
  • For Certified: Successful completion of the Certified Surgical Technologist exam (NBSTSA or NCCT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 6 months technical experience or specialized training
