Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current certification as a Surgical Technologist or valid nursing license with demonstrated Operating Room Technician (ORT) experience
  • Knowledge of sterile procedures, surgical instrumentation, and infection control protocols
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and remain focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative attitude with surgical staff, patients, and families
  • BLS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
  • Previous experience in general, orthopedic, or specialty surgical procedures preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field during surgeries, ensuring all equipment and instruments are accounted for before, during, and after procedures
  • Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and supplies efficiently and safely
  • Monitor and uphold strict adherence to infection control policies and patient safety standards
  • Collaborate with perioperative nurses, anesthesia, and other team members to support seamless surgical care
  • Maintain accurate documentation of surgical counts and ensure all needed supplies are ready and available
  • Participate in post-operative clean-up and sterilization of equipment
