A specialized opportunity is available for an Orthopedic Technologist skilled in outpatient orthopedics with a focus on splinting, casting, and wound care. This contract position is perfect for professionals who thrive in a supportive role assisting healthcare providers in managing orthopedic patient care outside the surgical setting.
Location:

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting with strong expertise in splinting, casting, and wound care
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or ARC
- Orthopedic Technologist Certification (OTC) from NBCOT preferred, required within 180 days
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions allowed)
- Will consider Surgical Technologists with outpatient orthopedic experience and completed orthopedic tech checklist
- First-time travelers are welcome
Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants in orthopedic patient assessments and treatments
- Educate patients on care and management of casts, splints, and orthopedic devices
- Apply, adjust, and remove various orthopedic supports including casts, splints, slings, and traction equipment
- Support wound closure and removal of closure materials, preparing patients for procedures and assisting with diagnostic tests
- Prepare exam and procedure rooms, take vital signs, and document medication and treatment details accurately
- Provide instruction on proper use and care of orthopedic equipment such as walkers, crutches, and braces
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5 days, 8-hour shifts)
