Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the operating room by supporting patient care and surgical teams as a skilled ORT nurse. This contract position offers the opportunity to perform both direct patient care and vital unit support activities within a high-functioning surgical suite.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current, active nursing license with appropriate certification for operating room technology (ORT)
  • Previous experience or specialized training in operating room procedures
  • Up-to-date documentation for all regulatory requirements, such as TB testing, safety and compliance training, HIPAA certification, and other mandatory credentials
  • Proven track record of adhering to departmental policies, ethical standards, and patient safety protocols
  • Strong communication skills for documentation and reporting
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to meet department objectives

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional care to surgical patients by anticipating procedural needs and assisting with dressings and cast applications
  • Prepare cases in accordance with surgeon preference cards and ensure all necessary instruments are accounted for before, during, and after procedures
  • Accurately conduct instrument and material counts; communicate exceptions and update records as required
  • Adhere strictly to all operational and safety policies, maintaining exemplary compliance with core guidelines
  • Proactively identify and resolve challenges, participate in departmental improvements, and contribute process recommendations for quality care and cost containment
  • Take on additional departmental tasks beyond routine responsibilities as needed, and play a role in teaching or mentoring
