Job Description

Support surgical teams in a dynamic operating room environment, ensuring efficient procedures and patient care excellence. This contract opportunity in Herrin, IL, offers a focused role assisting with preparation, instrument management, and patient positioning during surgeries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Transporting and positioning patients safely before and after procedures
  • Assembling and dismantling surgical tables and instruments
  • Preparing the patient and the operating room with sterile supplies and equipment
  • Performing skin preparation and draping patients appropriately
  • Assisting the surgeon with gowning, gloving, and passing instruments and sutures
  • Maintaining accurate counts of instruments, sutures, and sponges
  • Applying dressings and caring for specimens collected during surgery
  • Decontaminating instruments and managing supply restocking to ensure smooth OR turnover

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completed surgical technologist training program accredited through ARC/STSA or equivalent military or on-the-job training with documented verification
  • Certified Surgical Technologist credential preferred (NBSTSA or NCCT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum six months of technical experience or specialized training in a perioperative role

Schedule:

  • 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, four days per week with rotating days off
  • One weekday night shift and two weekend day shifts per month for call coverage
