Schedule/Hours:
- Potential for call or late coverage in alignment with surgical operations
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid and current certification as a Surgical Technologist
- Practical knowledge and proficiency with moderate to high acuity surgical procedures
- Proven ability to assist nursing staff and anticipate the needs of surgeons and healthcare practitioners
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Experience mentoring, precepting, or training others is highly valued
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a sterile, safe environment
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and troubleshoot equipment or supply issues on the spot
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room, instruments, supplies, and surgical field per procedure requirements
- Work under the direction of registered nurses, ensuring culturally sensitive and age-appropriate care
- Maintain vigilant oversight of sterile field and compliance with patient safety protocols
- Anticipate surgical needs and respond swiftly to changing circumstances during procedures
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stocking of perioperative areas
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards
- Collaborate with the team to discuss surgical plans and deliver efficient, coordinated care
- Provide orientation and support to new or developing team members as needed
